Las Vegas — aka Sin City — is certainly known as a nightlife hotspot. For newcomers to the city, though, it can be difficult to know where to start. With so many choices, how can you be sure to spend your time in Vegas well and hit the best spots?

This handy list compiles some of the best bar nightclub and nightlife venues in Las Vegas, so you know right where to start when you arrive on the Strip.

Atomic Liquors

Don’t skip this classic bar on your next visit to Las Vegas! This dive bar dates back to 1945 (hence its name, a reference to the nuclear tests once conducted in the state). Now the oldest freestanding bar in Vegas, it’s even been featured in movies like “The Hangover.” Don’t miss it!

Commonwealth

This rooftop bar has a vibe a little different from other Vegas hotspots. It’s beer heavy, and a little more laidback than some of the louder places in the city — a good place to have a mellower evening.

Velveteen Rabbit

This Victorian-inspired venue has unique 19th century decor you don’t want to miss. Don’t forget to try the house elixirs when you stop in.

The Golden Tiki

If you’re in the mood for a tiki vibe, definitely make a visit to The Golden Tiki. Its sugary drinks and shrunken heads make it a one-of-a-kind establishment in Sin City.

Sky Bar

If your objective is something a little more elegant and upscale, plan a trip to Sky Bar, located high up in the Waldorf Astoria hotel. It’s got a cozy and warm ambiance, complemented by exceptional views of the city.

The Chandelier

No visit to Las Vegas is complete without a trip to The Chandelier, which boasts a three-story chandelier, ringed by three floors of bars. It’s an entirely unique structure, most definitely not to be missed.

Apex Social Club

If you’re in the mood to really party and are looking for a vibrant nightclub, you’ll want to check out Apex Social Club. It’s an open-air venue, with excellent views of the city high up over the Strip.

XS

XS at the Wynn Las Vegas may be a little over the top, but it’s a one-of-a-kind place to party, and the type of setting where you’re likely to catch a big-name DJ.

Tao Nightclub

This celebrity-laden nightclub is also an exciting spot to stop at if you’re looking to catch a glimpse of someone famous. Its Asian-inspired vibe is also famous for being a great place to host bachelor and bachelorette parties.

On The Record

Catch some vibes from “across the pond” at On The Record, which features a classic double-decker bus! It’s a little more laid-back then some other clubs, and its retro music vibe may well appeal to the hipster in you.

Hofbrauhaus

If you’re in the mood for more European fare, definitely stop by this classic German beer hall. Good beer and classic beer hall foods make for a bar experience you don’t want to miss.
